Q. How safe is Cops International Home Exchange?
Anyone can browse Cops International Home Exchange, explore the website, and find out what CIHE is about. "View Homes" is also open to the public, though the information displayed is very limited here. There are no personal details, ensuring that our members remain anonymous, and are not identifiable through "View Homes." Personal information, and contact details cannot be viewed until a subscription fee has been paid, and the prospective member has been accepted by CIHE.
When you register we ask you to inform us of your current serving position/rank, and current place of service. (Most recent if retired). At no point is this highly personal and sensitive information divulged to ANYONE. "Registration" is what you do before you actually become a member, and the info you provide here is for our eyes only! When you are accepted by us and after we have examimed you registration details, we will then provide you with a link to your home email address, so you can then pay the joining fee, and then create your own profile.
Now you get to create you Profile through following the steps, and it is here that you decide how much info you want to display. We have an example profile for you to see as an idea of what to write.
You are now authorized to access Full Profiles, and can contact others through their email address, or their chosen method of contact.
Q. How much personal information should I put on my Profile?
Keep your personal details very brief: there is no need to disclose your exact address at profile level, or even your name if you don’t wish to do so.
Members want to know whereabouts you live and where you would like to visit. It is the thought of where you live and the possibility that they may have the chance to stay in your home, in your town, in your country that appeals.
Potential exchangers will contact you via email, and together you will become acquainted, allowing mutual trust and friendship to blossom. It’s a good idea to view our example profile to give you a great example of the basic necessities of your Profile.
Q. Why can't I see my profile images?
Images must be in jpg or gif format. Image dimensions should be 800 x 600 pixels or smaller, and under 1Mb in size in order for them to be displayed.
Q. Is there anything I shouldn't include in my Profile?
The images you chose to display in your profile will also be seen on "View Homes", which non members can view. We recommend that you do not upload pictures that could have you identified, eg. pictures of the front of your home, car licence plates, street sign posts etc.
